Bill’s godfather says failing to secure the border is a disaster.
Representative Claudia Tenney of New York on Wednesday introduced a bill that would redirect funds intended for the Internal Revenue Service to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The bill would reverse any uncommitted funds under the Cut Inflation Act, signed into law in July, for new IRS enforcement activities. The funds would be reallocated to CBP to hire additional officers to secure the southern border as the crisis there worsens.
Rep. Tenney said before introducing the bill that the policies of the President’s administration have “created a total disaster on our southern border that is impacting communities across the country.” She said the president and majority lawmakers are “ignoring the problem and instead giving tens of billions of dollars to the IRS so it can audit 700,000 more working-class Americans,”
“Americans don’t want more tax officials, they want a secure border and safer streets. The DIRECT Border Security Funds Act will provide exactly that by investing in law enforcement,” the MP added.
